This morning, you’ll visit Patan, also known as Lalitpur, the “City of Beauty.” Separated from Kathmandu by the Bagmati River, Patan is renowned for its ancient architecture and artistic heritage. Its central Durbar Square boasts an extraordinary concentration of temples—more per square meter than anywhere else in the valley, including Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.
You’ll also stop by the Tibetan Refugee Centre, home to a thriving community known for their exquisite carpet craftsmanship. Though nominally refugees, their successful industry has made them among the most prosperous groups in the region.
Later, depart for Pokhara, a scenic 210-kilometer drive that takes approximately 7 hours. En route, you may opt for a cable car ride to Manakamana Temple (optional, at your own expense), offering panoramic views of the Trishuli River valley.
Upon arrival in Pokhara (elevation: 2,352 feet), you’ll be greeted by unobstructed views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, whose towering peaks rise just 20 miles away. Check into your hotel and relax for the evening in this peaceful lakeside town.
