Until Agra we went by car with Sanjay, our driver, who we were very happy with! He showed us many nice places and always made us feel safe. Roadtrips are definitely the best way to get an authentic idea of the Indian land and culture! I recommend to inform yourself about the country in order to get the most out of your trip. The hotels are of course different than in our home Germany, but all in all okay. Especially the staff was really nice like all the Indians we met. I take many great experiences from this trip and am happy i came here!

He took FANTASTIC photographs too, without anyone else in the background! It was a magical experience.

Afterwards we visited a marble workshop and a Mughal (Persian) carpet workshop. Really interesting, very welcoming and no pressure to buy.

We... read more always had really nice driver - we loved especially the two Sanjays (drivers) who were always kind and funny, explained everything and let us decide where to go when. We always felt safe with the driver and also learnt many things from him. Having a car is definitely the best way to discover India as it’s the most comfortable, safe and adventurous way, so that I recommend you to book yourself a driver.
The hostels and also the train to and from Varanasi (worse than European trains but still absolutely fine) were booked for us so that we didn’t have to book anything.
If you ask for a student discount you will also get a better price :).

  Our driver Manu was amazing! Polite, helpful and funny. When he took us to our train he sent us with a porter who took us to our beds and then... read more phoned him so I could speak to him and tell him we were on the train fine with no troubles. If you do this tour, ask for Manu! The tour was great also, lots of things to see!
