On top of that, seeing Taj Mahal in reality was more beautiful than expected

Overwhelmed by the intensity of Delhi, Harpeet took me and my friend under his wing. Fed and watered us. The wise bird explained and help us plan our miraculous flight of rajasthan, helping to book our trains and flights. His nest (hostel, although hotel heavenly would be a more befitting name) was clean, comfortable and cool. His workers were polite, helpful and would respond instantaneously.

I could not recommend this man more.

Sounil, or “Sannie” as he calls himself is a good driver where I felt safe in the crazy traffic here. He knew every place we went to visit and can tell you a lot about the Indian culture if you ask him for it. Also he gives you advice on what to look out for in different locations which is helpful. It depends on the type of luxury you want but in general the hotels were nice and clean. Because there is so much to see you will go on a two week rollercoaster where you can experience a great deal of India in a short time. My advice would be to do some more preparation up front then I did so you know what to expect of the places you would like to visit, the culture, getting around and doing what you would love to do. I really got to experience India and it’s magnificent culture, but the animal activities like the camel ride and elephant visit were not my favourite. The tiger safari in Ranthambole was really nice though. It’s good to know the prices of the basic things so you won’t fall for people who see you as a walking wallet.

Sannie was really looking out for me, he actually put me on the train to Varanasi so he was sure I was in the right seat. There was another driver who picked me up with a sign and brought me to the hotel. Here Raj would ask how I was doing and arranged the rest of the transportation back to Delhi. When you are with him you see that he is very invested in all his guests. His phone is in his hand 24/7 to solve the challenges that occur during ones travel. He is fast, gets things done and if there is a problem he will do everything to solve it. When I was with him I saw him rearranging flights that had been cancelled, train rides and helping his guest with scams that they fell for. Also he is a reasonable guy who is open for a conversation. If you have any doubts or if doesn’t feel right. Just do some research, speak out what’s on your mind, and do what makes you happy and feel good!!! He is looking for a win-win situation where you are happy and he is happy. So together you can see how to make it work.

Now I am setting off to the north with a little more peace and quiet to cool down from all the amazing sights Delhi, Rajastan and Varanasi had to offer.

When... read more you walk into Hindustan Hostel you will see Raj’s desk. He will be your vacation guide. Not like a spiritual guide but he can find one for sure. He drew a tour map for our 10 day stay in India and it went like the wind. He proposed us an amazingly balanced plan where we saw architectural beauties, took part in cultural activities and even partied with locals. He introduced us to Vinay( Vinnie the Fixer). There are a lot of things that I will miss about India and Vinnie is in the top five. Vinnie was our driver for 10 days. We turned his car into a party bus( thanks again Vinnie). If you need anything Vinnie will fix it. He. Will. Fix. It. He is sometimes a big brother, sometimes a tour guide and sometimes a party animal. If you feel lost or just want to make some changes through the way, they will help you. Our one time experience went smoothly. Im sure you wills too. Adventure awaits!
